Canadian Brass Remember Johnny Carson

January 24, 2005 - Toronto

We at Canadian Brass are very sad to hear of Mr. Johnny Carson’s recent death.

We trace our success as a major hall attraction directly to our guest appearance on the Tonight Show. The reach of the Tonight Show to millions of viewers is beyond comprehension in today’s TV land, but at the time the Tonight Show totally dominated late night television. So many people have commented to us that they were first introduced to Canadian Brass by that very appearance.

Can you possibly imagine how excited we were, waiting for the commercial break to end, hearing the Tonight Show Band playing and standing on the very spot that ‘Johnny’ performed his opening monologue every night!

Meeting Doc Severinsen was another huge plus from that night -- a meeting that has resulted in collaborations from sharing the playing of national anthems at an All-Star Baseball game to performing together in a fund-raising event at the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, California.

We thank you Johnny. Rest in peace.

- Chuck
